Salt Pans in Maras

A salt water spring feeds these salt pans which the Incas used to product salt. Even today it remains the way Peruvians get their salt.

Machu Picchu

We toured the great Inca stie of Machu Picchu.  The people of Machu Picchu fled the site fearing they would be killed a Spanish attach but the Spanish did not find Machu Picchu so the city was left intact and only discovered hundreds of years latter.

Just a little further.

Goodbye party

Dancing with the kids at our goodbye party.

Fixing the playground equipment

One group worked on fixing and painting the playground equipment. Had to work fast since the kids had to get back on asap.

Kids at work

Finished backpack

The kids were very proud of their finished backpacks.

Sewing machine

From donated money our group purchased a sewing machine.  One of the projects was having the kids make their own back pack including a fabric picture of themselves.

Here goes the concrete

Trees, trees and more trees

Concrete pad...the beginning

I posted the finished concrete pad earlier.  Here is how it began.

Trimming the trees

One group worked at trimming the trees.  Luckily they had some kids to help.  I remember planting these trees a couple years ago.  Wow they have really grown.

House number 8

The house is coming along nicely. Towers and cages are all up and twist tied in place...now for some concrete to hold it all in place.

Working in the trenches

We spent 3 days working at twisting wires in the trenches.

Concrete pad

The new Canadian built concrete pad. No as smooth as the Peruvians work but it will do the job.

Lunch with the kids

We had the opportunity to join the kids for lunch in the new dinning hall.
